T3 press modernization

Executing the continuous development strategy and optimizing the production process, during the winter renovation break at the turn of 2020/2021 in Herby, an investment was carried out on the T3 press aimed at increasing the availability of press and the improvement of quality of supplied aluminium profiles.

Due to initial assumptions, the T3 press was characterized by the necessity to carry out daily short breaks to remove crust stored behind the press as well as residues from extruded tickets. Breaks and servicing were forced by technological process, which assumes that each ticket must leave a short section, length ca. 20 mm. It is aimed at keeping process and product cleanliness. To eliminate short breaks, extractor for crust was assembled, thanks to which it is possible to evacuate them directly outside the production hall. They can be quickly and safely transported to containers without breaks the press operation.

Another investment, which should be mentioned, is a modern half-automatic sandblasting machine, which replaced the machine that was already worn out. It allows for more precise cleaning of dies, which are a very valuable and precise tool. The purchase of a new device increased the cleanliness of the production process and dies adjustment. Another feature of the sandblasting machine is facilitating the work of the operator who no longer has to perform manual sandblasting for the whole day. Time saving allows them to perform other, additional tasks, such as: dies assembly and locating them in an appropriate location in the warehouse, which finally translates to work optimization at the die shop.

 In 2020 one more, but a very important investment was carried out. A modern set of furnaces for dies was purchased. It is characterized by a three time faster heating time, extreme precisions and evenness of the process. In compliance with the newest trends, each die is placed in a separate chamber. It has a very significant impact on the process as it prevents from often opening of the furnace with many dies in it when in fact we need only one die, as it is the case of complex furnaces. The control and precision have a significant impact on repeatability of the process, as well as it protects the die against damages, which may occur due to uneven heating. The carried out investments allow us to better control the production process within the T3 press and allow us to better use the available time, which will translate to an increased production volume and the quality of delivered sections.
